  • “I am not a mountain bike warrior. I am a mountain bike groupie. I follow and support my fanatical family who enter stage races across our I was privileged to have been at the inaugural Croc2Croc MTB race in the Kwena Valley this past weekend, starting and ending at the Verlorenkloof Country Estate, and passing through the farms, mountains and valleys of this beautiful corner of Mpumalanga. I often hear, from the riders and their supporters; “It’s not about the race, it’s about the people”. From the very start of the prologue ride on Friday morning till the prize giving on Sunday afternoon, it was clear that this new Croc2Croc race was something special. To the diligent bike washers, to the cheery caterers dishing out endless delicious meals, to every staff member at the lodge who smilingly assisted, to the considerate manager who ‘magicked’ toasted sandwiches to weary, hungry cyclists arriving well after the field, to helpful and innovative bike repair guys, to fellow cyclists and famous TV personalities who willingly offered their bikes, wheels and support to stranded riders, to the long suffering ‘sweep’ riders and lead bikers, to the marshals, to the volunteers at the water points, to the designer of the medals, to the accommodating physios who eased those aching bodies, to the sponsors, PWC, and the talented Exxaro team, to the riders for their ‘vasbyt’ and dedication, to the praise singer for his energy…….. but especially to the farmers who agreed to open up and share their precious and magnificent lands to these passionate cyclists……. we salute you. But most of all to the visionaries who saw the final route in their minds eye and never gave up on their dream. The trail blazers, the trail builders. We thank you for your passion and your dedication to mountain biking. What a magnificent ride! We look forward to being at Croc2Croc 2017.” - A letter from Patti Legg | Croc@Croc MTB 27 – 29 May 2016
